Call the experts when it comes to assembly instructions

For many people, the fun of taking furniture home when you buy it abruptly ends when it is time to piece it together, according to an article from the New York Times archives, Memo to Assemble-It-Yourselfers.

Note to RTA furniture manufacturers: Infographics offers valuable expertise when it comes to the development of assembly instructions and other post-purchase consumer communications.

Assembling RTA or flat pack furniture (as we call it here in Europe) can be a frustrating experience for most customers.

When we create instructions we always write them from a users perspective and try to minimise the number of times that a person has to move the product during the assembly process. This ensures that it is easier and safer to put together and minimizes the possibility of damaging it during the process.

A good tip is always to lay a blanket down first so that panels do not get damaged and build larger products in the room in which they are going to be used. Otherwise remember to measure the width of door first!

One of our clients researched with their customers the quality of our instructions against some existing ones and the results revealed that customers out-of-box experience was better with ours and their brand loyalty was dramatically increased.
